Fibre Glass Tape

Fibre Glass tape is made from E (electrical) glass fiber continuous filament yarn. E glass yarns are mostly used in the manufacture of tapes, cloth and reinforcements, since it combines the advantages of highheat resistance, low moisture absorbance and superior electrical properties. The resultant textile is a unique combination of physical properties which cannot be duplicated in any other flexible material.

Application

Fiber Glass Tapes are widely used where the primary requirement is the retention of mechanical and electrical properties at high temperatures. Fiberglass tapes are widely used for insulating FRLS cables.

Fiberglass tapes can be taped or machine wrapped and are available with or without a colored line to facilitate uniform wrapping and a ready method to identify thickness.

Availability

Fiberglass Tapes are available in widths of 3/8 inch (10mm) to 4inches (100mm) in thicknesses ranging from 0.003 inches (0.08mm) to 0.020 inches (0.50mm). These tapes are wound on 12mm ID plastic spools and are available in rolls of 50 mtrs (for motor application). Larger rolls (350 – 700 mtrs) wound on 75mm plastic spools to facilitate machine taping for use in cable industries.

Some of standard weaves are tabulated below. Other constructions, as per customer’s specification, can be made available provided the order quantity justifies the drawing of special beams.

Shelf Life

Woven Fiberglass Tapes exhibit no shelf life limitations when stored up to 12 to 18 months at 25 deg C temperature and 50% relative humidity.
